Namco Taiko Blog (10 April 2012)- Taiko 0 software update

Namco has been hard at work....barely a month after version 2.03 for Taiko no Tatsujin 0 had been released, they go and up it all the way to 3.13!

And it's no small update either. Besides a bundle of new songs (which we will discuss later), version 3.13 comes with a few other cosmetic changes and tweaks to the game.

1. Banapassport member changes

Upon logging in with a Banapassport, your profile name and current title are shown on this screen here. Yes, a nickname system is coming to Taiko. On this new version, the name and title will now also be shown as you play songs. Like so, on the top-right corner of this screen here.

That's not all, for players who have yet to unlock all the Don Point rewards, Namco has just made it a whole lot easier to do so (cue mild ragefest by day 1 players who spent all their blood and money to unlock everything). Shown below: together with the 500 points awarded for a full Tamashii gauge, you can now get bonus points depending on your performance (like being accurate, getting lots of drumroll hits etc.)

2. Better tracking of your records

The Results screen also receives a few changes. Here's the revised screen below.

Looks the same, but what's that above the total score? Yep, you can now know how much you've improved over your own personal best on a certain playthrough! More of convenience than anything else, but still nice to have.

3. 'Drumroll count' now includes hits on balloon notes and Kusudama notes

That's the number below the total max combo. This digit was added to the arcade from Taiko 11 as a way to keep track of drumroll hits but did not include hits on balloon notes or Yam notes (which would become the Kusudama note in Taiko 0 with the exact same function. To see more info click here). Depending on how you see it this is either a good or bad thing, as although a combined number is a good idea, if you really wanted to know how many hits you did on the yellow drumrolls you'd have to manually subtract from the total now.

4. Marker for tournament use songs

No screenshot was provided for this, but Namco will add a special signal to show that a specific song is used whenever they hold one of their online tournaments, like what they did for Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu in January 2012, so it's easier for anyone to jump in and pit their skills without having to go online and check if a tourney is ongoing.

5. New songs

Now this is what everybody came for, right? Let's get to it!

J-Pop
365 Nichi no Love Story (365日のラブストーリー。)

Anime
Busters Let's Go! (バスターズ レディーゴー! 「特命戦隊ゴーバスターズ」より)
Let's go! Smile Precure (Let’s go!スマイルプリキュア!)

The J-Pop song is the new one being introduced to Taiko PSP DX this Thursday, while the two anime songs are standard fare, being OPs to the continuing Sentai and Precure series (note also that both songs have 'let's go' in their titles).

...

You didn't think Namco would leave us with just three drab songs right? Of course not, there's more! Be prepared....it's two collab songs with Music GunGun 2!

Now I can hear your screams properly! A year after Taito included Saitama 2000 in the tracklist of Music GunGun 2, Namco responds by featuring two songs from that rhythm game series in Taiko no Tatsujin! (obviously in Game Music). The two songs are Extreme MGG and the famous Music Revolver! Difficulty levels are as shown for the two songs. They're rather low for a collaboration effort, but they're probably placeholder stars, so this may change after the update.

And what are Don and Kat wearing? New costumes, of course! Clearing Extreme MGG will net you the Cyan outfit (left), and Music Revolver rewards you with the Magenta outfit (right)

The update goes live on April 17th 2012! Get excited!

...

Page source message comes in for one last snipe!

It may seem like an innocuous note with nothing significant in it other than telling everyone to look forward to the 17th, but things like this aren't done without a purpose. Let's see here. Get rid of the
in front, then read the message vertically. Ha! Looks like all the time spent playing puzzle games paid off!

ららはるのあたたかさがきもちいいこのころ
ーららーとうたいだしたくなりますね。え?
んただけだって?そんなふうにいわないであ
あるっていってほしいな。わたしは。そうだ
Ura aru yo (there are going to be Uras). Which songs will get the new Uras?? Find out on the update!
