[RANDOM] - FUJIN Rumble's Remix

GROOVE COASTER ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK BOOST

...Again, we're not going to turn the blog into 'Groove Coaster Time' or something, but we thought that this additional piece of soundtrack information might be relevant for Taiko grounds as well!

On March 30th, the Groove Coaster series is having its first soundtrack compendium sequel to their original 2+1 album, under the title of Groove Coaster Original Soundtrack Boost. Among all the new original tracks coming from both the current arcade installment (GC 2 Heavenly Festival) and its future sequel (GC 3 Link Fever), there also are some added bonuses to the compilation, such as a FUJIN Rumble remix titled FUJIN Rumble (tpz Overheat Remix). As if the 'tpz' isn't enough of a hint, this remix will be made by t+pazolite, who's currently one of the most prolific external composers for Taito's currently running rhythm game series.

[ERRATA CORRIGE] - Sorairo Soundtrack CD's Real Songlist

Thanks to the efforts of Taiko gaming blogger eSports-runner (link), we're sad to report that the Sorairo Version soundtrack's song list that we listed on our blog (according to the information/hints provided by the Taiko Team in one of their livestreams) is actually wrong, as no CreoFuga song is inside the album.

The flip cover above lists what's actually inside the album, featuring all the previously-covered exclusive prototype versions and all of Sorairo Version's Namco Original songs released on that firmware board, with off-vocal versions of all the songs with lyrics (except Kimi no Planet, which gets Haru no Yume instead). It's also worth mentioning that there are three versions of Phoenix inside!

Once again, we apologize for the wrong information being posted on this website up to now. We're currently working to write down the album's actual song list on its page in the Others section.

Full Display of Taikai Feb 2016's Petit Charas (sort of)


As also listed in our recently-posted White Version unlock list, these are the 15 Petit Charas that can be unlocked during the ongoing Taikoai gacha event! As previously hinted by the blackened image, what's available for the contest is a selection of friendly characters from the core Wada family, the heroes/villain of the first Taiko 3DS videogame and the Fuuga/Mirai/Arashi trio from Taiko Kettai-Ban.

Together with those are what they look like to be alternate versions of Tatsu-Don, although their silouhette seems to be destined to remain a mystery on the Taikai tourney's website...

Taiko no Tatsujin White Version: Rewards Shop

 

Continuing from Taiko Momoiro, the Rewards Shop is a service on the Donder Hiroba website, where players can access their play data and customize their costumes, Don-chan colors and titles. The shop makes use of the accumulated Don Points (which were useless in previous HD arcade firmwares after the counter was maxed out) by allowing players to use them as currency to buy things like costumes and costume parts.

All the not-limited items which were purchasable with Taiko Murasaki arcades can also be purchased by Banapassport newcomers on Taiko White, as well as new items since the latest arcade firmware's launch.

List of titles in Taiko no Tatsujin (White Version)

The title system was introduced by a firmware update in Taiko 0, and gives players with access to Banapassports nicknames to put beside their usernames while they play, as a mark of their in-game achievements, much like in other rhythm games with user profiles. The titles can be interchanged in Donder Hiroba when you have obtained them, and the one currently selected will display on the arcade screen wherever the player name is. Some titles unlock hidden content like songs and costumes.

It is possible to get more than one title in a go by overlapping the conditions for unlocking them. In addition, for newer players, Don Points (DP) will also be given out for titles they get.


Almost all the titles from the Murasaki Version are available on White ver. as well, with the addition of new title unlocks. Once again, titles are not ordered under a numerical order.

Titles are listed below, translated into English wherever possible.

First Video: White (and V) Version's New Songs


It's another busy day for Taiko arcade players due to the new song additions and the return of the Dojo Ranking mode.

For those with a good memory, though, V Version is also getting something new today! Above is the Oni video of Brand-new World, the opening theme for The Asterisk War (not to be confused with that other similarly-titled OP theme). This song from the currently-unknown star rating bears a low-notecount Oni mode, whose note patterns don't range that far away from the Anime genre's standards.

Twitter Snippets (27 February 2016) - Taiko's Tokaigi 2016 Preparations on Nicovideo

Want to hear in advance how the first batch Creofuga '15 contest winners will sound like in their definitive form? Courtesy of the Taiko Team's efforts, now you can! Since yesterday, videos of the six songs that will be available to try are available on both Bandai Namco's Nicovideo channel (linked above) and on their JP Youtube counterpart.

From these videos, we can already tell some name changes on both songs and artists, as follows:
  • M-O-T-U's winning song will be spelled as SstTAarR*, and will give credit to the use of Hatsune Miku's voice in its subtitle (M-O-T-U feat. Hatsune Miku);
  • The same fate will occur to Onigiri wa Doko Kashira's subtitle that, predictably enough, will display Yomii feat. Hatsune Miku as its artist;
  • Finally, Chouzetsu-Gikoukei Shoujo will have as its subtitle the name of the fictional unit behind the song, rather than just the main composer/singer Nekomirin: Nekokaburi Cyclone (ねこかぶりサイクロン); as the videos do credit to, this alias stands for the combined efforts of Nekomirin and xi, an independent composer who gained popularity in the last few years due to multiple contributions on many rhythm games (the latest of which for the 2nd Tenkaichi Otogesai tournament).
Also being shared by the Team today are the links to the Tokaigi live broadcast on Nicovideo for both Saturday and Sunday, already advertising the contribution of Japanese "let's play" groups such as M.S.S. Project among others for some live challenges. Both live broadcasts will start at 11 am (Japan time).

Taiko Wii U 3's Un-Advertised Extra DLC goodies

Not being mentioned in last Thursday's Taiko Blog entry about the next batch of song DLC content (or even the 1st one, for what that matters) is a side feature that comes together with the DLC tracks and is properly mentioned on Atsumete Tomodachi Daisakusen's website!

As a matter of fact, all of the DLC songs made for the latest Wii U release (so far) come with their own set of Tomodachi Daisakusen mini-challenges, meaning that the songs might pop up among the single player mode's friendship-bonding challenges, together with all the default (+ unlockable) tracks! This philosophy also applies to the incoming batch of DLC songs, as the picture above shows.

Taiko no Tatsujin White Ver. (International) song list


Donders outside Japan get the White firmware a month later than Japan as usual, and the upgrade is just as uneventful as the original; with zero new features added or any graphical tweaks to the interface. Asia White is basically Murasaki with more songs.

Several licensed songs from JPN Kimidori and Murasaki which could not make it to the international cab were finally localized however; this includes all six Yokai Watch songs in the Anime genre, a Pokemon opening and the Ultraman X opening (which has a pretty vicious Ura). Most licenses that were present at launch for the Japanese version of White are also included from release.

Worth noting that Namco sent out side banner replacements for this particular version. This makes White the first firmware outside of Japan to involve physical delivery of update packs, rather than a simple over-the-air update. The new banners are still pink, however (looking nothing like the preview picture shown above).

The Idolm@ster Must Songs - Live Festival


The Must Songs titles' signature mode, Live Festival features a selection of custom song courses that the player has to face by playing them altogether in one sitting, much like with Taiko no Tatsujin Portable Deluxe's Medley Mode.

The festivals feature up to 5 songs per run -each following a certain theme and idol cast (a particular idol/unit/game's songs, for example)- and can be played on any of the four Taiko no Tatsujin difficulties. Each of the festivals has an admission fee to pay with the money earned by playing the titles' regular Play mode (Produce Mode), but once that a live is cleared, said price is halved for all the subsequent entries. At the end of each successful run, the player is given a grade between Clear Live (reach the regular clear condition by filling the Tamashii Gauge to the yellow zone), Perfect Live (end with the Tamashii Gauge full) and M@ster Live (Full Combo the whole festival).

At the beginning, only the Intro Live Festival is available to play; however, it's possible to unlock the remaining ones by rising up the profile's Idol Rank, which is raised by playing any Live Festival course and gaining set number of fans through both playing and using the colored light-sticks, purchasable at the in-game shop. Once that the Idol Rank S is achieved, all Live Festivals are available to play and the games' Credits will be available to see.

Much like for the game's other unlockables, the Idol Rank for one set profile is applicable in both Must Songs games, meaning that the promotion to the Idol Rank S in one game will also unlock all the Live Festivals (+ credits) of the other game from the very beginning.

DISCLAIMER: The two games share the same save file on the same Playstation Vita system, meaning that the player's personal data progression for the profile is valid and carried over both games. In other words, the user profile's progress (Producer Rank, Idol Rank and Producer Notes goals/Idol Mail achieved) is the same one for both games, together with all the customization elements unlocked from both titles and usable in any of the two games (save for the song-related unlocks, which are linked to their respective game).

Namco Taiko Blog (January 21 2016): Wii U3 January DLC and Taiko at Tokaigi

 

In today's two official Namco Taiko Blog posts, we look at these two pictured things, and I can't think of a good opening.

[Breaking] Across Japan: That It Isn't White Makes Donders Pale

And poetically (?) resonating with Murasaki ver. getting pre-emptively White ver. (new songs making glitched appearances) at 2015 year-end, a selected few Asian AC0 cabinets has missed the bandwagon and was not updated to White ver. yesterday. Coming with additional network problems in several Sume-supplied locations in Taiwan, Taiko Team projects a complete transition by this weekend with good hope.

In the meantime, remember to check the version and network connection status on the top-left and bottom-right respectively before you insert the credits, and staying tuned to Donder communities for status updates also help save unnecessary trips to the arcade.

In less breaking news, the same post also releases the tournament results of the January Facebook Tournament, and schedules the next round across February 6-14, during the Chinese New Year (song choice on 3rd, results on 17th).

Twitter Snippets (January 20 2016) - Kat-chan Color Official MyBachis and Huis Ten Bosch Cup 2

Disclaimer: I wrote up the previous TaikOp-ed way in advance (say before 2016), so that Kat-chan color question is way before this. But anyway, buy the Official MyBachis at the Next Gen World Hobby Fair for a limited stock bonus of blue grip tapes and straps! Also available with the purchases are special Don-chan Face Bags to take them away!

Well yes, that means you have to change them manually, still hey calling all Kat-chan people!
In other arcade related news, after multiple extensions, the Huis Ten Bosch installment of 3D Projection Taiko no Tatsujin has stood so long it slates another Huis Ten Bosch Cup tournament. This time only one department is available, accepting entries of groups of 4.


TaikOp-ed: The One About Official MyBachis


The imminent release of the Official MyBachis might be seen as the long-awaited recognition of the MyBachi culture, allowing for proud ownership and (very limited) customization of one of the most crucial items in play, and avoiding the prospect of varying Bachi conditions ruining decisive tournament (and trust me when I say "varying" I mean some can be really bad; just look how many ways it can go that we once listed in this previous feature).

Before the first hands-on owner experience propping up in March 2016 and the full canonization in official tournaments in May, let's have a little free-for-all talk about the idea itself. Feel free to vent however you want, but here are some prompts that might help:
  • Do you currently or previously own/make MyBachis? How does it feel against the cabinet-attached sticks at your usual place?
  • Is the idea of having standardized MyBachi specs appeal to you? How well are you feeling of the restrictions of too-extensive customization?
  • What do you feel about the currently desinated specs? Any design choices that you feel is not reasonable?
  • Is the price reasonable? If not, suggest a better one too.
  • The only footage we have is a red pair (i.e. Don-chan color) of Official MyBachis. Should the underdog brother Kat-chan have a variation for his signature color too? Calcutta Dondi and Yomogimaru too?
  • What additional sales arrangements (pre-order locations, event sales etc.) would you suggest?
  • Asian Donders: What do you think when the current sales arrangements are still pretty Japan-centric, especially when WCS2016 is supposedly also involving the greater Asia area?
  • If you do not have arcade Taiko no Tatsujin access: Will you still buy a set for just enjoying the presence/playing with the PS2/Wii/Bluetooth drums (not recommended)/(whatever other use you have)?

...okay, so while the site does not have overwhelming new info (bulk of which we have seen here and here), there is a small reveal being the exclusive outfit that you would get with pre-ordering at selected Namco outlets, the grip tape color on the sticks being dependent to your MyDon's face color. You have until February 14 for them!

First Video: Heaven's Rider



The February tournament's second new song has just been released, in form of a brand new instrumental track with really hi-pitched voice samples! Heaven's Rider (5/6/8/9) mostly relies on the canon 1/16 note cluster spacing, while peppering in some 1/24 cluster action in several points of the song.

For a clearer version of the song, there's also this HQ rip of Heaven's Rider being played on Futsuu.

Song of the Week! 9 January 2016


Puoc a ta kool a ekat ot gniog era ew yadot- wait, this doesn't feel right...

... *A-hem* Today we are going to take a look at a couple of songs which have some notable 'Reverse Notecount' values, a trend that slowly got a decent following in the later years for certain songs' notecharts, much like for the "regular" special combo counter of 765, 876 and such.

Taiko no Tatsujin Plus Shinkyoku Tori Houdai!


You know how Taiko no Tatsujin Plus is on the iTunes Store, and that Taiko no Tatsujin Shinkyoku Tori Houdai is for Android devices (with whatever Japan-exclusive mobile content service that houses it)? So when you combine the two you get an Android app that will be available on Google Play! Perfect logic!

No, but seriously, this new smartphone app version of Taiko no Tatsujin will be hitting Google Play shelves soon, and that means there is finally a chance for the remaining 45% of the populus to get it (just short of whatever way you need to bypass possible region lock). The main site for the Android game is hosted at http://app.taiko-ch.net/, whose URL is really similar to the usual iOS version main site at http://app.taiko-m.com/.

On the gameplay... well it is your average Taiko no Tatsujin game, so what else would you expect (tap virtual drum like Plus or Wii U)? The Fukubiki system and the prospect of collaboration is inherited from Taiko Plus all well, with Kumatomo and Tales of Asteria shown on the teaser site.

And to prepare for the upcoming release, you can pre-register for the release here, only needing your e-mail address or Twitter account. which when it exceeds 10,000 and 50,000 pre-registration nets everyone themes and Don-chan outfits that feature the Android green robot dude (that is of course exclusive to GPlay version and not on iOS).

First Video: Tenbinza Kyuukou Yoru o Iku



As of today, the song pre-release campaign for the Taikai (arcade Taiko games' February 2016 mini-tournament) has begun with the first of the three featured tracks being the first song by Taku Inoue made for the series. The wait from the last livestream is over!

Tenbinza Kyuukou Yoru o Iku (5/6/7/8) (lit. Libra Express Into the Night) relies on both uniform beat division and recurring cluster formations, building up to some dense note formations towards the end.

Namco Taiko Blog (7 January 2016) - Taiko no Tatsujin at Tokaigi '16


Now that the Taiko franchise is drawing closer to its first arcade's 15th anniversary, the celebrations are starting to branch out from console gaming and into publicly-held events and conventions! The first of those events in 2016 happens to be Niconico's annual Tokaigi GAME PARTY JAPAN.

For the 2016 edition, running on January 30th and 31st, the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise will have its own dedicated booth, as well as playable arcades in the usual Arcade corner. Although Eto didn't felt like spoiling all the news with this blog entry, the Tokaigi will be the first place where people can try out the finalized version of the MyBachi drumsticks for arcade gaming! There's more to be said about the Taiko inclusion in the event, but apparently we have to wait a little bit more for hearing the rest.

First Video: Marionette Pure



V Version's first DLC pack of 2016 just came out and with that the latest song by Yura Hatsuki and Drop! The Namco Original Marionette Pure boasts a 9-starred Oni notechart made of both slow BPM and different kinds of 1/16 and 1/24 note clusters. No word on the Chinese DLC situation as of now, but once we'll know more, this post will be updated with the relevant data.

And for those who were looking for more informations on that certain Anime revival, Kaisei Joushou Hallelujah's Oni mode got re-rated as a 9* Oni, meaning that Ultraman X's Ura Oni is currently standing alone as the only 10-star challenge for the Anime genre.

Across Japan: January Facebook Tournament!


The image should be easy to read: January's Facebook Tournament for the Asia ver. of Taiko no Tatsujin Murasaki ver. uses Oni Marble Heart (★6) and Muzukashii White Rose Insanity (★6). The tournament runs from January 9 to 17 and the results comes in on the 20th.

...wait, both are only ★6s? That is way too abnormal for the tournament series that has thrown ★10 like too casually just to fish out the elites...

Tournament Mode In Action!


In which we decided to show the proceedings of a random non-official tournaments between two very top-level Donders. Well at least the fact that another cabinet has apparently been forcefully used to relay the Taiko footage is funny... kinda.

No, the main reason is to show off Tournament Mode (大会モード) added in the middle of Murasaki ver.'s lifespan with a delayed notice, which has the following possible effects:

  • A big sign that covers the usual opening animations showing that the mode is on
  • Timers never go down by itself and will not forcefully boot players into the next screens before they are truly ready
  • Options can be pre-set by the organizers, overriding any user defaults if needed
  • Results screens do not go away by itself and takes 5 rim hits to proceed, giving time for organizers/marshals time to jot down the scores
  • No DonPoints and title unlocks :(
Remember that this mode is accessible only to arcade room staff, so for all the aspiring tournament organizers that want to enjoy the full extent of this mode, contact the arcade room in advance to set things up.

NB, Black strips that cover the score during the songs are a physical addition by the organizers. That is not part of the Tournament Mode.

Namco Taiko Blog (January 5 2016): Synchronica Grant Mishap! and White ver. Update G/V 2.03

 

Opening the year with a error report... oh boy whatever will we expect for 2016.

But if you did not successfully obtain Synchronicity or New World by cross-playing between Taiko no Tatsujin White ver. and Synchronica, this is the minor update you should note. The firmware for White ver. will be updated to G/V 2.03 tomorrow (January 6) to hopefully solve the failed grants that began on January 1. Those who already got the song by December 31 will of course not be affected and can continue to play them. If you just finished the Synchronica side of matter and is planning to get the song(s) in White ver., remember that only updated 2.03 cabinets can complete the grant.

This being an out-of-schedule update, the scheduled January 7 post will not be affected. See you then for new-year stuff!

Don Challenge List (White Version)


Don Challenge (shortened to 'DonChare' (ドンチャレ)) was introduced in the July 2012 update of Taiko no Tatsujin (HD) for Banapassport-equipped arcade players, which is a set of 11 goals that has to be cleared by playing the game and meeting certain criteria. The challenges change on a monthly basis, and once a certain number of them are cleared, the player can unlock new songs and titles for themselves too! 10 of the goals can be cleared by individual players, and the 11th one is a group effort, contributed by all players with Banapassports.

The songs unlocked through Don Challenge will be available to all other players in the following month when the goals are renewed, so it is an incentive for regular arcade-goers to clear goals so that they may be able to play new songs earlier than everyone else and unlock more new content.

Below is the list of Don Challenge goals made for the Taiko White Version firmware and the content they unlock. These will also be listed in the related unlock article.

2nd Tenkaichi Otogesai's Taiko Final Phase Songs


Nothing says 'Start of a New Year' better than recapping old news! Above is the song selection for the latest Tenkaichi Otogesai's Finals song selection for the Taiko division, which was held between December 19 and 20 last year.

The contestants of the Taiko division had a 'Best-of-5+ Wins' match with the AOU '15 Phase 2 song (Yoake Made Ato 3-byou) and other Namco Originals, including both recent additions (Shiny Kung-fu Revival, Shikou no Ran) and collaboration-shared boss song Kita Saitama 2000 as the 3rd fixed song to play. If after the 4th match the win results was even, further playoff matches were made with the Tenkaichi 2014's Phase 2 crossovers (in the order of Ignis Danse, Scars of FAUNA, VERTeX and FUJIN Rumble) until one of the players doesn't manage to get a bigger score than the other contestant. The songs were all played on Oni mode, with the Shin'uchi modifier on.

Now that this phase was settled down, the only event left is the last match among all finalists at the incoming JAEPO, on February 20th. After said data, it's most likely to assume that the AOU-exclusive tracks will become available in every other public arcade, as the tourney comes to an end.
