TaikOp-ed: Flicking the (Nintendo) Switch

The big mystery in Nintendo's next console that is the NX revealed itself to be the Nintendo Switch, which let's you switch controller set-up on the spot.

While Bandai Namco among other makers have been name-dropped for already working on development in the new specifications, Nintendo has explicitly refrained from talking about actual games or region-locking (a bane for pushing console Taiko no Tatsujin outside Japan). Plus it's been revealed that backwards compatibility might be a no, hence chance for playing Wii U1~3 or 3DS1~3 be damned for non-Japanese consoles.

But don't let that stop us from having a talk on that in a Taiko no Tatsujin setting! Feel free to let us and everyone know your thoughts free-form, but here are some pointers that might spark your thinking:

  • Would there actually even be a Taiko no Tatsujin NS?
  • Because the Switch would be a console-handheld mix, would a potential Taiko NS boast a massive song list like past Wii/U titles, or a story/RPG mode per DS/3DS/PSV lines?
  • Which of Switch's controller option would work best for yourself on Taiko?
  • Taiko drum peripheral: How would they become for the NS? Would compatibility with the Wii line of drums?
